The Birds of South Brent Parish

In 2013, a group of wildlife enthusiasts living in and around South Brent decided to carry out a bird survey of their parish. Just over four years later, the South Brent Parish Bird Survey 2014-16 has been completed, and after three annual reports, a summary report and two articles published in Devon Birds, we now present the final report. Originally, this was to be just a report on the survey, but it was decided to include what was known about birds in the area before the survey, and what might happen in the future. Hence the title, ‘The Birds of South Brent Parish, before, during and after the 2014-16 survey’.

The book contains: over 240 colour A4 pages with more than 160 photographs and 172 species accounts.

Its sections include:  The survey area  The survey – how it was done  Coverage and participation  The species recorded  Variations in the number of species  Why the variation in species-richness?  Seasons and years  Where birds live and breed  Times past  Times future  Epilogue – where and when to find birds in South Brent Parish  Species accounts –all species from the last 100 years.
