HERONRIES CENSUS 90TH ANNIVERSARY

2018 is the 90th anniversary of the founding of the British Trust for Ornithology’s national Heronries Census.  All known occupied heronries in Devon will be monitored as usual by our team of observers, but the BTO are also requesting an extra effort to locate any other occupied colonies which may have been overlooked.  (“Heronries” includes Little Egret breeding sites.)  Listed below are a number of  past colonies which they would like checked to see if they have been reoccupied.  No formalities are needed; if you can visit one of these sites, just have a look and let me know the result, whether positive or negative.  Also if anyone knows of or finds any other occupied heronry which is not currently monitored , please let me know.  (Currently monitored sites are listed in the Grey Heron section of the 2016 Devon Bird report)
